No Previous Experience Needed
Unlike fine rowing boats, learning to row a fixed seat rowing boat like ours is quite easy and less intimidating.
This probably accounts for the reason that it is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.
It’s fun, great (non-impact) exercise and good for the soul!
Fixed seat rowing is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.
Men and Women are flocking to clubs from Lands End to John O’Groats on the sea, rivers, lakes and Lochs in Skiffs, Gigs, Cutters and more.
The boats are stable, individual and great to look at.
There are crews who race hard and others happy to go with the flow.
For those wanting to race there are many options. There is a large series of Gig races, there’s the gruelling 22 mile Great River Race in September on the Tideway, small events like the Hamble River Raid, Ocean to City in Cork, the Skiffy World Champs and many more.
Up for a challenge? Like rowing the Thames, crossing the Channel and rowing to Paris?
Or just row for the sheer fun of it and keep fit.
Most people who try it stick with it – so there must be something that draws people in that can’t be explained in words…..
